A group of friends working in the industries around Thane, Inspired by a thought that .... "assiduous- advantageous and auspicious, Service to mankind is service to God!" formed an organization ‘SATKARMASHRADHASHRAY’ way back in 1982.
In the initial years visited various ‘Vanawasi Seva Ashram’s’ in Maharashtra. Offered educational aids to start with. Collected funds for the cause by organizing Music and cultural programs. In the year 1990 a piece of land at village ‘ Dehrang’ in Panvel – Raigad was donated to them. Erected a ‘dome’ type structure on their own. The entire ‘Dehrang’ province comprising 12 hamlets with a population of around 12000 Vanawasis (tribals) was deprived of any medical facilities what so ever! Our services began with free of cost medical aid to the villagers. There was no electric supply, no water, available to the centre. Being on a small hill top will 1997.
With great efforts water was made available by ‘Lift irrigation’ from the river down the hill. The medical services went on (releuflessly). Number of patients then was over 10000. In the year 1997 Three phase power supply was restored.
Switched over the education sector that pathetic. The percentage of school going children was just 1%. Erected a hostel for students on another piece of land that was made available by a (dayes). Began educating students from our hostel that was made available free of any cost. Established a ‘Cow Shed’ in 1998 .
- Had our own well for portable water supply.
- Erected a New medical and a community hall.
- Had two borewells. Thus began the expansion if services.
- Today we are a well established centre in the services to the villagers of the ‘Dehrang’ province.
- By the link of continued munificence of ever increasing well-wishers we are going strength to strength.
